Sands Township, Michigan office does not have storage or disposal facilities for household hazardous waste (HHW) and therefore does not accept HHW.

The Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority offers several free Household Hazardous Waste Collections throughout the summer and fall. A link to that information will be provided when it is available.

Batteries

Batteries, including alkaline, lithium, lithium ion, lead acid, nickel cadmium, and button batteries, are accepted at both the Sands Township office and the Recycle and Transfer station.

Tires

Scrap tires are not accepted at the Sands Township Recycle and Transfer Station.

  • There are free tire disposal events scheduled in the summer and fall at locations throughout Marquette County. A link to that information will be located here when it is available.
  • Tires may be disposed of at the landfill. A permit issued by the Sands Township office is required ($20 cash or check, with any remaining balance of landfill fee to be paid promptly).
