Trash Pick-Up Change – Tuesday Route
Trash that is normally picked up on TUESDAY will be picked up on THURSDAY this week due to the extreme cold. Wednesday pick-up is unchanged. We anticipate that the township office, including the gym, will be OPEN on Tuesday, January 21. Updates will be posted here on our website and Facebook, if needed.
Township Office Closed Monday, January 20
The Sands Township Office and facilities will be closed on Monday, January 20, due to the extreme temperatures.
Date Change – January Planning Commission Meeting
The Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for January 21, 2025 has been rescheduled to January 28, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
Treasurer Available to Accept Tax Payments
The Treasurer and/or Deputy Treasurer will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, to accept tax payments for those who wish to pay by the end of the calendar year. (MCL 211.44)
Holiday Hours and Closings
The Sands Township office, including the gym, will: –Close early at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and –Be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day The landfill will close at 11 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Holiday Trash Pick Up Schedule Changes
For the weeks of December 23 and December 30, the following changes to trash pick-up will occur: –Normal Tuesday pick-up will occur on MONDAY, December 23 and MONDAY, December 30 –Normal Wednesday pick-up will occur on THURSDAY, December 26 and THURSDAY, January 2 Please share this information with your neighbors, as appropriate.

Welcome to the updated Sands Township website, which includes our bright new logo! Please note we’re now using a .gov URL and we have included “mi” at the end. “https://sandstownshipmi.gov” The old website will automatically reroute to the new website.
Winter Tax Billing
Winter tax bills were mailed the week of November 25, 2024. Please contact the township office if you do not receive your tax bill. Winter tax payments must be received in the office on or before February 14, 2025 to avoid incurring interest penalties. After February 28, all 2024 tax payments must be made to…
