The Michigan Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requires that public bodies grant full and complete access to information regarding the affairs of their operations, except to those incarcerated. This act provides for public access to certain records; permits certain fees; prescribes the powers and duties of certain public officers; and provides remedies, penalties and repeals to certain acts and parts of acts.
It is the policy of Sands Township to comply with State law regarding FOIA requests and to respond to FOIA requests in a consistent, fair, and even-handed manner regardless of who makes such a request.
Please be aware a good faith deposit may be required with the submission of any Freedom of Information Requests. Other charges may apply for search time, copying, or mailing. Please contact the Sands Township office at 906-249-9169 for more information.
