Strawberry Lake is designated a Type D trout lake by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This is a non-motorized lake, and fishing is restricted to artificial lures (no live-bait is allowed). There is no boat launch available.
In addition, Strawberry Lake is available for picnicking, hiking, and watching wildlife. At times, the lake is surrounded by several feet of dark muck that can be treacherous. Please be aware of the potential danger of the muck and use caution at the water’s edge.
Strawberry Lake is located south of Sands Township Office & Park Complex off of South M-553. Use the driveway to the Marquette County Fairgrounds, and before entering the gate entrance to the Fairgrounds, turn left onto the gravel and dirt road. From South M-553, it is approximately 9/10th of a mile. The road follows west along the fairgrounds. Where the Welcome Sign is at the junction of several dirt roads, continue west to the lake.
